Is there anything better than getting things in the mail?

I'm always excited to get mail. Even if it's just something I've ordered for myself. This arrived today. It's Graham Coxon's The Spinning Top on vinyl. It's a double LP, but I was too lazy to take more pictures and eager to share! (I'm also rather embarrassed by my already somewhat cluttered new-ish desk.)

I always like when people share music recommendations on their blogs or when they have those weekly music posts. I'm always tempted to do the same, but I find myself faced with two problems: I'm terribly inconsistent in my blogging and all of my recommendations would probably just alternate between Graham Coxon, Blur, and The Beatles. Not that that would necessarily be a bad thing.

New desk + old things

Sternenhimmel

I got a new desk recently, so I went through a bunch of old papers and things that had accumulated in my desk drawers. I came across a few forgotten things:

1. a journal with a very nice cover with some birch trees
2. an old postcard showing the Buddenbrookshaus. I found this in a library book when I was at the university.
3. glow-in-the-dark star stickers. I love the packaging.

It's nice to finally have a bigger desk surface. After the hard work of sorting through everything, I needed a snack and a cup of tea in my Marimekko cup. (I just noticed this picture also shows shows my Marimekko bag!)

Right to Pop!

I was supposed to go out on Saturday night, but decided I'd much rather stay home listening to music. Even though that's how I spend most evenings. I wanted to listen to my 45s, but my record player is still broken, so I had to use the one in the living room. Look at that white vinyl. Isn't it just swoon-worthy? Gosh.

(The first photo also give a peek at my new glasses. They're from a Japanese optical place and apparently are specially made for Asian faces (that's what the lady told me). Hopefully they work just as well with half-Asian faces.)

Young and Lovely

A bit of music to help get me through a Monday morning. Especially the first day back to work after taking 5 days off.

My streets are pop music and gold

A good amount of my time in the evenings and on the weekends is spent making faces in the mirror.

This weekend, however was rather busy. It involved:
- a birthday party.
- venturing out on Record Store Day, despite not liking crowds (I made sure to go when there were no in-store performances planned, so I wouldn't have to deal with too big of a crowd.) It was still pretty insane and most of the special releases had been picked through, so I just got an import copy of the Coral's Roots and Echos, then made a hasty retreat.
- watching The Strokes at Coachella on the youtube livestream .
- freezing, despite the sunny weather.
- and pulling faces, of course.

I've been spending a lot of time lately looking through old photos and planning imaginary trips. I get in moods every once in a while where I really miss Berlin and the slightest thing can make me homesick (if that's the correct word) and close to tears (dramarama!). A while ago it was a particularly fragrant shrub that took me back immediately. Sometimes it's the smell of certain brands of cigarettes or beer.

If only I didn't have such limited vacation time. I feel like I'm not really cut out for the working world. Or maybe being an adult in general. Definitely not my strong suit.
