going out/not going out

It's been taking a lot of effort to leave the house these days. It's hard when I'd rather just stay in and listen to music or draw or have marathons of Newsradio, the Mighty Boosh, or It's Always Sunny. But actually going out gives me a chance to wear my fake leather biker jacket. So there's that.

Blah

The blurriest scan ever. Oops.
I don't really have much to say at the moment. I have some proper adult decisions that need to be made, which wouldn't be such a big deal if I wasn't pretty much the world's biggest eternal baby. Sometimes I just wish someone else could make all decisions for me. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to be expected to function as an adult when I can't remember to wear my glasses at least three days a week. How does that even work? Apparently I don't notice when I can't see very well.
Wow. That sounds like a major downer. Sorry. Things are not all stressful though. I'm waiting eagerly for my CD/DVD and vinyl copies of Graham Coxon's new album, which should be here this week! I waited eagerly at my computer on Sunday for midnight to come in the UK so I could download it on itunes. Best thing ever! I've been listening to it obsessively since then. I even listen to it on repeat at work and by sneakily plugging my skype headset into my phone and hiding my phone under a stack of papers on my desk. The lengths I go to for my obsessions over music...I feel like my life would be so much better if the only decisions I had to make were which album to listen to at any given time. Although that can be pretty stressful as well.

Awkward

I may or may not wear this sweatshirt and Marimekko shirt all the time.
Two things (because my mind seems to work in lists):

1. I've come to realise I am pretty much incapable of not being awkward in photos. I don't really like taking my picture taken because I don't like smiling for the camera. I don't know why. I don't like smiling if I don't feel like it or something like that. So if I'm forced to pose, I usually make a face and ruin the picture and/or end up being super super awkward. Hands clenched into fists, pulling at the legs of my jeans, or just playing with my fingers.
I carved pumpkins with some friends for Halloween and we took pictures with our creations and for some reason I had fit of giggles and couldn't get it together. It took an embarrassing number of attempts in order to get one where I wasn't ruining it for everyone.

2. At the class I took last weekend, there were a bunch of teenagers and the instructor was talking about how when you're young you have to miss out on all these cool bands that play at 18+ or 21+ venues and he was like, "You guys know what I'm talking about" and pointed to me and the young kids. Um...too bad I was probably one of the oldest people there and am well over 21. Nothing awkward going on there. Just like the time a couple months ago when someone thought I was in the 7th grade.

Haircuts and other important business

Hmm. This didn't scan very clearly (my hair is also much darker). Here's what the text underneath says:
I haven't been sleeping lately and I have dark circles under my eyes. I also really need a haircut. I've been wearing it up in a Wilma Flinstone bun a lot.
My bangs also tend to curl up like that on the side when they get long. I started chopping at my hair on Saturday, then decided that was a bad idea, so I've made an appointment to get it cut this week. I'm tempted to cut it quite short, but we'll see...

Lately

I've stopped eating dairy and have been enjoying these delicious vegan cupcakes. They're extra good with a strawberry on top!

Despite wearing glasses since January, I still forget to put them on now and again and have left home several times lately without them, which leads to me missing my bus as I return to get them. Not a good way to start the day. This note hasn't really helped.

The weather has been rather horrible lately. Or rather it has been oscillating between nice and sunny and horrible and super rainy. And when it's rainy I just like to stay in, light my candelabra/chandelier thing and listen to music.

And speaking of music, I'm looking forward to listening to Xfm's live broadcast from the Japan Benefit gig tomorrow! I only wish I could be there in person!
